The world-famous Madame Tussauds wax museum is the highlight of the Vienna Prater with over 90 wax figures, an interactive Sisi experience, and several VR experiences.

Over 90 wax figures can be seen at Madame Tussauds on Riesenradplatz in Vienna’s Prater. Emperor Franz Joseph and Sisi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Falco, Maria Theresa, and Gustav Klimt are some of the local personalities and historical figures seen in the 2,000 m² of exhibition space (spread over three floors). In specially created interactive settings, you can also rock out with stars from the music scene in the newly opened festival area, accompany Hans Sigl as the “Mountain Doctor” to Ellmau using VR glasses, compete against Albert Einstein in an intelligence test, or say “I do” again in the Wedding Chappel.

The wax figures at Madame Tussauds have been fascinating visitors for more than 150 years. It takes three to six months to create a figure. More than 500 precise body measurements and around 200 photos are needed to capture every feature of a person, no matter how small, as accurately as possible. A total of 800 working hours go into the creation of each wax figure, which costs around 200,000 euros. International celebrities are also well represented: Chris Hemsworth, Sandra Bullock, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, Julie Andrews (as Maria von Trapp from “Sound of Music”), Zendaya or Will Smith “represent” the show business. Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela represent world politics.
