Grosse Freiheit 114 has been a prominent institution in Berlin’s LGBTIQ* community since 2005. After its Corona hibernation, the only Friedrichshain pub with a darkroom has received a bigger makeover than on GNTM and has reopened its doors since October 2021. With a new look and the new motto “Queer & Friends”, the new owner Danjel Zarte and his team welcome all queer people to the “Freiheit“. At the same time they want to create a safe space for diversity, but also strike a balance to become a feel-good place for all who do not stand in the way of their ideology of friendly coexistence without queerhate, sexism, racism, anti-semitism, ageism and ableism. It is a space for queer and friends, where everyone should have the opportunity to make sex-positive experiences – even people who otherwise have no contact with the “calm guest space”.
