Bookstore Löwenherz – The bookstore for LGBTIQ

As early as 1993, the doors of what is still the only queer bookstore in Vienna opened. The Löwenherz bookstore in Vienna‘s 9th district started with about 3,500 titles at the time. In the beginning, there were still some gaps on the shelves to fill. Today, the range is literally overflowing with over 12,500 titles in stock: much to the benefit and delight of the many customers from Germany and abroad.

Not just pure queer literature

The program has always not been limitated to gay literature, Austrian literature from Ilse Aichinger to Stefan Zweig, an extensive assortment of social science, psychology and psychoanalysis, as well as history with a focus in the Holocaust and National Socialism is still on the shelves today. It goes without saying that there is also a lot of literature about the lives of trans* people.

Not just for reading

Magazines, CDs, videos, DVDs and a wide range of accessories from stickers to rainbow flags fill the shop in Berggasse today or can also be ordered online from the bookstore Löwenherz.
