With its many noted exhibits, archival holdings, research contributions, and primarily volunteer staff, the Schwule Museum * (The Gay Museum) is known worldwide as one of the largest and most important institutions informing the public on the diversity of sexual identities and gender concepts. It is dedicated to the huge variety in ways of life among the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans*gender communities in history, culture, and art. The museum collects, preserves, and presents documents and personal testimonies from many decades of queer life.
