Built-in 1899, the Dogenhof in Praterstrasse, once the showplace of Viennese coffee house culture, has been home to the analog manufacturer Supersense and a Café-confectionery in recent years.
Now, Supersense creator Florian Kaps and Simon Steiner, co-founder and former restaurant manager of the Heuer am Karlsplatz, have made a great dream come true and reunited the legendary Viennese Dogenhof.
The vision of this gastronomic concept is unique for Vienna. At the Dogenhof they cook exclusively over an open fireplace and with a wood-burning oven. The resulting structural challenge was successfully implemented by the stove fitter Robert Krotz (oven body off&go) and ventilation specialist Andreas Poelzl (airdesign GmbH).
Lukas Stagl is responsible for the creation and realization of the dishes – a young chef who fearlessly takes on the challenge of cooking with fire. The aim is to prepare simply good food as unadulterated as possible. Stagl’s straightforward approach is characterized by the art of omission, purist clarity and a full focus on the food.
