Baden-, Pagodenburg & Magdalenenklause
These three castle parks were created in the 18th century by Joseph Effer following a commission from the Elector Max Emmanuel. A noteworthy feature is the Badenburg Festival Hall and the two-storey bathroom. Four rooms are furnished with Chinese wallpaper. In the Pagodenburg, with its octagonal layout, decorative elements from Europe and the Far East are combined to create an exotic atmosphere. In addition to the grotto-like chapel, the Magdalen Hermitage, deliberately designed to look like a ruin, contains austere living rooms like those found in a monastery in the style of a court hermitage.
