Theater im Keller

Discount: a free theatre cocktail “Schutzengel” (non-alcoholic, if desired) to welcome QueerCityPass holders and their guests visiting the travesty show. Available in the theatre lounge “Kulisse”.

The Theater im Keller was opened on 3 January 1987 and stages over 150 productions each year. Although the theatre’s name would suggest that performances take place in a cellar, the theatre is actually located on ground level. In its first years, however, the venue was actually inside a vaulted cellar. Due to ever increasing demand, Michael Brenncke, who has been Artistic Director since 1987, decided to move the theatre company to new premises which were formerly used as retail space. The transvestite theatre has now become an internationally recognised cabaret club located in the trendy Reuterkiez district of Berlin. The Theater im Keller is known for its cabaret performances which are predominantly transvestite shows.  Since 2009, the theatre has boasted a contemporary bar and chill-out zone where the guests’ creature comforts are well catered for with a range of tempting food and drink, including freshly tapped beer, delicious cocktails, speciality coffees and delicious Spanish dishes.
