What type of tricks and gimmicks do film makers use in their work? In two words: All types! In the Bavaria Film City, where popular German TV series such as “The Rosenheim Cops”, “The Old Fox” and “Storm of Love” are recorded and well-known shows such as “Verstehen Sie Spaß?” [“Surprise, Surprise”] have their home, you can learn how film professionals really work. For example, in the visual effects studio, where breathtaking images from the super computer are linked with an original film scene which the tour guide shoots with visitors to the Film City. A short sequence is filmed during which the visitors to the Film City meet a fire-spitting dragon at the end of a journey on the roof of a moving train. Visitors can also become film stars in the rebuilt ARD weather studio, in the lobby of the prince’s court from the show “Storm of Love”, in the special effects studio as well as in Michael Bully Herbig’s “(T)Raumschiff Surprise – Periode 1” film (which was heavily influenced by the television series “Star Trek”). At every interactive attraction a film camera records the action; later on visitors can take the final compilation of scenes home as a souvenir.
